Since starting my fitness journey in 2013, I’ve had a million different coaches. Well, maybe not a million, but I’ve had quite a few. My first ever coach was in college, a fraternity brother who loved powerlifting. He trained me after class in our campus gym. Unknowingly, his guidance helped kickstart my love for a life dedicated to health and wellness.
My second coach entered the picture after I graduated from college. He trained me “online”. This means he wrote me a training schedule and meal plan and then I followed suit. Once a month, my plans were updated.
My third and fourth coaches were competition prep coaches. In 2015, I competed in two bodybuilding (National Physique Committee, or NPC) competitions, four months apart. Placing 2nd and 5th, respectively, allowed me to compete at a National level show. However, my dreams of becoming a professional bodybuilder were short-lived.
And still, I struggled. It wasn’t until I took matters into my own hands, and dove into fully understanding the basics of nutrition along with the science behind it, that I was able to maintain results while living a realistic and flexible lifestyle.
I was lucky enough to find Avatar Nutrition during their beginning stages and I haven’t hired anyone else since.
Avatar Nutrition is a revolutionary digital diet system used to guide you through tracking your macronutrients (macros for short). This is also called flexible dieting because it is adaptable.
Macronutrients consist of protein, carbohydrates and fats. We eat these every day in the foods we choose to consume. Whatever you eat is made up of at least one macro.
What Avatar Nutrition does is generate your macros for you using your body’s statistics, activity level and preferred goal. The system then provides you with a target of each macronutrient. It looks something like this:
Your goal is to hit your numbers daily. These numbers might change based on your weekly check-ins to ensure you are progressing in the right direction. Although Avatar is a software system, there is a strong human support group behind the screen. A team made up of co-founders and expert coaches are there to provide you with one-on-one help and feedback along the way.
Since founding in 2015, Avatar Nutrition has helped transform over 100,000 lives. Their slogan, “Eat what you love, look how you want, feel better than ever,” not only delivers on their word but pretty much guarantees it.
A friend of mine, Lorne Favrovich also uses the system…
“Counting macros is the secret to your dream body. I went through almost 5 years of trial and error. The most important thing I learned from this journey was that healthy food could be separated into two major categories: macro nutrition & micro nutrition. It would be scientifically inappropriate to simplify their roles, but basically, macro nutrition designs the physique while micro nutrition promotes the function of little things inside the cells of the body. Props to Avatar Nutrition for changing my perspective on food. I am never going back to ‘eating clean’ ever again! FOOD IS LIFE!”
When people ask me about my nutrition or results and I mention tracking macros. Most of the time if not always, I hear that it is too much work.
“I agree fully that it can seem like a lot of work at first,” said Springer “It’s kind of like when you go to a theme park, and you’re scared to get on one of the rides at first, but then afterward you see that it was actually a lot of fun and then you want to keep doing it again and again!
“It takes about a week or two of effort, and then after that it’s easy as breathing.
“With all the features we’ve recently added tracking probably takes up a grand total of 1-2 minutes per day for most users.”
Take it from me, Lorne and the rest of the rapidly growing Avatar community, you can eat what you love, you can look how you want to look and you’ll feel better than ever… guaranteed.
