It’s a question for the ages. Just what do the gods eat? If you said marshmallows, you’d be right, of course. According to madehow.com, the name marshmallow comes from the mallow plant which grows in swampy, marshy areas of Europe, North Africa and Asia. The root of this plant was originally ground into a pulp and mixed with sugar. “As far back as 2000 B.C., Egyptians were mixing the marsh mallow root with honey. The candy was reserved for the gods and royalty.”
The Artisan Marshmallow Company of Mullica Hill, NJ, is now bringing this divine treat out of antiquity and making it available to everyone. They specialize in homemade gourmet marshmallows made by hand in small batches. The many varieties are only limited by the imagination of owner Cheyanne Forgatch, whos creations include such flavors as Bourbon Vanilla, Toasted Coconut, Peanut Butter, Caramel, Vermont Maple, Oreo, S’mores, Cookie Dough and Coffee.
The Artisan Marshmallow Co. has teamed with Operation Turbo, so you can support our military with a purchase of red, white and blue marshmallows with their signature Bourbon Vanilla flavor. You can also sign up for their Marshmallow of the Month Club. So go ahead and eat like the gods!
