Not only has Berkley Harmon been bringing hard work and networking skills to Insperity since 2016, but he has also been making charity work a priority in both his business and professional life.
“I’ve always wanted to make sure I’m giving back,” Harmon said. “From a personal perspective, contributing back to society, back to the community. From a business perspective, it’s part of our Insperity DNA, it’s part of our goals, we have contests around giving back and being charitable every month. 80 offices around the country compete with each other so we have fun with it.”
While charity is one of Harmon’s favorite parts of his job, his main role with Insperity is to help bring new business to the company, which provides excellent human resources support to small businesses in the Philadelphia area.
“My role is to constantly be a relationship-builder in the community and bring on new business, new clients into the company. I am a full-on networker, I enjoy it, that’s what prompted me to join JerseyMan and advance to their Chairman’s club and make that investment,” Harmon said.
“I believe when you’re in any type of sales or business development, it is the number one way to have a serious conversation with another business owner… because the barriers are really down. It’s not something that’s so cold, so there’s plenty of ways to warm a relationship prior to getting into a business conversation, but networking to me is number one.”
In a nutshell, Harmon said that Insperity focuses on providing HR support to small/mid-size business as well as additional administrative support.
“We bring the Fortune 500 level model of harnessed economy scales around benefits and administration and full tech-ed up HR and HR support to a small/mid-size company,” Harmon said.
“I helped bring two offices to the Philadelphia market. We have one at Liberty Place and one at the naval yard. I have basically led the company in the Philadelphia market since 2016. I really enjoy what I do,” he said.
Overall, Harmon’s favorite part of his career is that he never lives the same day twice.
“The best part about my career and what I do is that no day is the same. I don’t sit in the same cubicle, I don’t sit in my same office… that’s what I love about it,” Harmon said.
“I love it. It’s a new experience every day. If you’re talking to someone new every day, at least one person telling your story, you’re gonna be successful.”
