Patrick Reed, the winner of the Farmers Insurance Open on Sunday at Torrey Pines
In the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open this past weekend, Patrick Reed faced a rules issue.
Here is what Head Golf Professional at Burlington Country Club, Mike Mack, had to say about the incident – “Once again the media overreacts to something to create controversy. Jim Nance should be embarrassed. Reed was completely within the rules of golf. In my career I’ve marked a ball without a rules official to see if it was embedded. Reed had no way of knowing the ball bounced, and I’m not sure that’s relevant because I’ve seen a ball bounce and embed. It’s obvious it was embedded because the PGA tour rules officials aren’t just going to agree with the player, that’s not there MO. Unfortunately for Reed he is under the microscope, he isn’t liked by many people.”
