The Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino which was first opened in 1984 and closed in 2014 is now nothing but a gigantic pile of rubble. The remains of the eight-story hotel that once towered over Atlantic City’s beachfront has many people wondering what they are going to do next with the space? The owner of the property is billionaire Carl Icahn and he will be working with town officials on bringing an exciting new development to the center city, oceanfront area. It is not everyday that a site like this with so much visibility of the city becomes available so it will be exciting to hear about their redevelopment plans. Although no exact plans have been released yet, the property couldĀ be the next space for a new casino & hotel with new restaurants and bars inside for tourists to enjoy. Many years ago, there was speculation about a state report suggesting that the Trump Plaza be demolished and the city create “greenscapes” in order for there to be convenient access to the boardwalk for visitors not interested in gambling. This came about in hopes to help reinvent a “new” Atlantic City, but in all seriousness will the city ever really change? We will just have to wait and see!
