On Friday, John Chaney passed away at the age of 89 after suffering a short illness. He led the Temple Owls for 24 seasons and won 516 games from 1982-2006 setting a school record. Chaney was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001 and was voted two-times national men’s coach of the year by the basketball writers’ association. John Chaney retired as Temple University’s coach in 2006, but he will forever be remembered by the school & in college basketball.
